The few years I spent chasing one business after another were not a total loss. After all, I was supposed to be able to build a business in 30 to 45 days raking in all the cash I could handle. So, when I failed to build a business within the allotted time, I assumed I was not doing something right or the claims being made were not realistic. I come to the conclusion the claims were not realistic for the newbie bumpkin, such as myself!

That's when I woke up and began smell the coffee and realized that if there was something going to happen, it was going to be produced by me, not in spite of me. We all learn from bad experience as well the good experiences in our life, we learn the lesson, then we move on. Remember, to be a failure is to totally give up trying.

So, my quest moves on to a new phase in marketing on the Internet. I become acquainted with branding and article marketing.

Just how important is your site? This is what the search engines want to determine about your website or blog. The search engines measure the importance of your site by three major criteria, one being the content on your site. Does it provide a service with informative information for those that come to your site? The second is the amount of inbound one way links that your site has and third, are the one way inbound links relevant to the content of your site? This will tell Google, yahoo, and other search engines just how important your site is in the grand scheme of things. All three benchmarks are important to have in place when trying to establish a online presence.

If the search engines believe your site is relevant they will in turn give you better page rank, and thus you will have a higher position in the search engines for your chosen keywords. It is imperative you use the right keywords that you are trying to rank for when writing your content. And make sure the keywords you have chosen are relevant to your niche. The way I go about doing this is, I chose the keywords that are relevant and build my articles around them.

Article marketing and backlinks are inseparable. The whole idea of article marketing is not only brand yourself as an expert, but also to build one way inbound links to your website or blog. Link building can and will bring you long term success for your home based business. The main focus should be on acquiring the most exposure for your business that you possibly can, If you want to build backlinks to your site, then article marketing will accomplish this for you.

Article marketing is for the long term for your business, keep this in mind when you are building baclinks with article marketing. it is important to write articles that are relevant to your website. Trying to build links just for the sake of building links to your site is a bad strategy and here is why, if you have any other links besides the one that are relevant to your site, you will without a doubt hurt your page ranking and loss overall in the search engines and Alexa ranking as well. Thus you lose targeted traffic to your site. If you get traffic to your site, you want traffic that has come because they are looking for what you have that's relevant to the site. So, when you lose ranking you lose traffic.

Trying to build your links all at ounce is not a good idea, you want it to look natural and over a period of time, do not get in a big rush. I have stayed away from paid links, it doesn't appeal me to at all. While the reciprocal links are valuable, I don't think they are worth as much as the one way links when it come to getting higher ranking from the search engines.

One sure way of getting higher rankings, is to connect to sites that have high page rank, this will give you the boost you're looking for in your page rank. When using article marketing for building inbound links, you can check to see the top fifty article directories on the web. The higher the rank the more traffic they get to their sites. Submit your articles to top directories first. There is enough there to keep you busy for some time.

You can build inbound links by visiting blogs that are relevant to your chosen niche by leaving a comment on the blog. Make sure you read the articles that are posted on their blogs, so you can make a comment relevant to the article. After reading and making your comment, make certain your link address is at the end of your comments, doing this will create backlinks to your site.
